Global initiative to foster creativity and innovation
BE OPEN Art continues to run BE OPEN Regional Art, the regional competition for emerging artists aimed to support those whose art best represents their regional, cultural and ethnic identities. Throughout 2024, BE OPEN expert community will continue selecting those artists who best represent the artistic tradition of a certain region to feature in the BE OPEN Art gallery and offer them greater visibility.
On June 27 and 28, BE OPEN Foundation took part in the panel sessions of the MED9 Ministerial Summit for Education for Sustainable Development and the UNECE Forum on ESD: Empowering Youth for Sustainable Futures, two of the most important education and sustainability focused events in the global agenda.
The competition awards two prizes outside the main three: the Public Vote prize, allocated as a result of an open online vote, and the Founder’s Choice prize awarded by the Founder of BE OPEN Elena Baturina, international philanthropist and businessperson.
The international jury for Design Your Climate Action has evaluated all the entries over the categories of Raising Resilience and Adaptation, Energy of Change, and Solutions Offered by Nature, and named the winners of the First, Second and Third Prizes.

On the 21st of February 2024, the closing day of the 2nd International Conference on Sustainability: Development and Innovations, BE OPEN took part in the culminating panel discussion dedicated to the role of international organizations in promoting sustainability aspects.
Over two days of April 22 and 23, the Centre of Visual Arts and Research in Nicosia welcomed 160 schoolchildren from the public schools of both the Southern and Northern parts of the island who took part in the educational sessions organized by BE OPEN Foundation dedicated to Cyprus Handcrafted Heritage.
This initiative was devised with the aim of popularization and preservation of traditional Cyprus fabric production techniques. Each session consisted of a lecture on craft-related entrepreneurship and a master-class of traditional Cypriot weaving.
Every month of the first quarter of 2024, works by 20 emerging artists from the countries of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan were posted at the online gallery for the public to select the Regional Artist of the Month.
In March, Yigitali Sattarov, Uzbek artist concerned about global issues, humanity and its future, has become the last of the three candidates for the Artist of the Region and the 500 euros prize, alongside Guzel Zakirova (Kazakhstan) in January and Zhyldyz Bekova (Kyrgyzstan) in February.

BE OPEN Art, an online gallery designed by Elena Baturina’s BE OPEN think tank, is happy to announce the Artist of the Year 2023, selected by the majority of votes among the monthly ratings.
BE OPEN congratulates the talented Jean D’amour Imanishimwe, a Rwandan visual artist. A graduate of the Nyundo School of Arts. Since 2017, he is the co-founder of HUZA ARTS RWANDA gallery whose objective is to give a platform to young local artists to exhibit and sell their artworks.
