The international BE OPEN Awards 2012 has attracted over 300 first-class entries from young designers around the world. Entries were received from all corners of the globe including: Afghanistan, Cuba, Ireland, South Africa, Iran, Uzbekistan, Lebanon and Vietnam.
Over the next three weeks the BE OPEN Jury will select nine shortlisted entries, three from each of the nomination categories: CAST, FORM and CITY.
The three winners – one in each category – will receive study grants at leading European educational institutions. A further prize of EUR 10,000 will be distributed between the winners to help them take their projects a stage further.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony during the London Design Festival on Thursday 21 September 2012, 18.00-19.00.
The BE OPEN Awards have been created to give a platform to young, creative talent. The awards are presented for work that demonstrates a deep conceptual approach and breadth of thinking. BE OPEN is seeking technological and cultural concepts that will have a beneficial impact on mankind. Priority is given to entries that illustrate creative thinking, with designs that have the potential to become ‘must have’ products in the future.
Terms of admission to the next BE OPEN AWARDS scheme will be announced in September 2012.
