Global initiative to foster creativity and innovation
BE OPEN Art, an online gallery designed by Elena Baturina’s BE OPEN think tank, is happy to announce the Artist of the Year 2023, selected by the majority of votes among the monthly ratings.
BE OPEN congratulates the talented Jean D’amour Imanishimwe, a Rwandan visual artist. A graduate of the Nyundo School of Arts. Since 2017, he is the co-founder of HUZA ARTS RWANDA gallery whose objective is to give a platform to young local artists to exhibit and sell their artworks.
Throughout 2023, the BE OPEN expert community selected those artists who best represent the artistic tradition of a certain region to feature in the BE OPEN Art gallery and offer them greater visibility. In October, the focus of the competition moved to Central Africa.
In 2024, BE OPEN Art, an online gallery set up by Elena Baturina’s humanitarian think-tank BE OPEN, continues to run BE OPEN Regional Art, the regional competition for emerging artists aimed to support those whose art best represents their regional, cultural and ethnic identities.
December 5 2023, BE OPEN Foundation joined the programme of COP28, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, by far the largest and most influential climate, energy and sustainability-related event in the world.
As a partner of the Student Energy Summit (SES 2023), BE OPEN had the honour of addressing 650 young people from over 100 countries who gathered at the New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). They participated in the international and interdisciplinary programme that strives to prepare young people for a career in the energy transition, showcasing underrepresented voices in the energy space and empowering youth to build important relationships with peers and industry professionals.
In December 2023, BE OPEN Foundation will join the speakers in the Green Zone of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, by far the largest and most influential climate, energy and sustainability-related event in the world.

Design Your Climate Action is our next international competition open to all students, graduates and young professionals who specialise in the fields of design, architecture, engineering and media globally. The competition aims to encourage creation of innovative solutions by younger creatives, for the more prosperous and sustainable future; the focus of the competition is the United Nations’ SDG13: Climate Action.
