Irina Korina

Artist
Irina Korina was born in 1977 in Moscow where she currently lives and works. In 2000 she graduated in scenography from Russian Theatre Academy, also studying in Austria and Sweden. Irina uses modern materials, often literally from construction sites to create cosmogonic installations. These works have a sense of nostalgia for lost aesthetics, yet also offer new original aesthetic possibilities. Irina is one of the most striking and paradoxical artists working in immersive installation. She makes a painstaking examination of Russian everyday life, both visual and semantic. She also reveals a fascination with her own version of the sociology of design.
