Happiness as an end goal and as a motivator of artists and designers proved to be a thorny issue. Julian Schnabel motivation to create with such urgency seemed to be a desire to escape time rather than because it made him happy. He thereby questioned whether happiness was truly possible. Vladimir Pirojkov on other hand explained the problems he was addressing – the extremely difficult one of opening access to areas of Siberia – and then explained his methodology before showing us his material solution. It was the desire to go forward that made him happy.
