In Basel BE OPEN held the ‘Inside the Academy’ exposition that showcased and honored recent achievements in educational approaches that promoted real-world problem solving through creative design.
In collaboration with Design Miami/ Basel, the global forum for design, BE OPEN had invited a selection of top European design schools to present innovative design projects by outstanding students currently or recently enrolled. Each institution was asked to showcase three projects that best reflected its approach to design thinking and its educational mission.
The universities exhibiting at the BE OPEN booth at the Fair were:

- – Ecole Cantonale d’art de Lausanne (ECAL), Switzerland;
- – Hochschule Basel, Switzerland;
- – Konstfack, Stockholm, Sweden;
- – Sandberg Institute Amsterdam, the Netherlands;
- – Glasgow Fine Art School, UK.
