Davide Oldani is regarded as one of the most talented and interesting young chefs on the global culinary scene, described as an innovator and firm defender of simplicity and tradition. He began his career working with Gualtiero Marchesi. After which, he continued his international experience, studying with some of the greatest chefs worldwide -Albert Roux (Le Gavroche, London), Alain Ducasse (Louis XV, Montecarlo),Pierre Hermé (Fauchon, Paris) – and travelling all around the world, from the USA to Japan and Europe. He came back to Italy in 2003, choosing the district where he grew up, Cornaredo (a few kilometres from Milan’s western ring road) to open his own restaurant, he called D’O, which offers high-end affordable menus. D’O is currently considered a must try for food afficianados , perfectly reflecting the chef’s cooking philosophy, he defines as “Cucina POP”: accessible, excellent and difficult to imitate food. After being awarded his first Michelin star in 2004, Oldani received the “Ambrogino d’Oro” prize, the highest acclamation from the city of Milan, in 2008. Davide Oldani is also a passionate writer. After Cuoco andata e ritorno (2008), La mia cucina pop. L’arte di caramellare i sogni (2009) and Pop. La nuova grande cucina italiana (2010), his latest book, Il giusto e il gusto, was released in Semptember 2012, focusing on the “POP values” as precious milestones not only in the kitchen, but also in everyday life. But Oldani’s “POP vision” has been also translated into furnishing, accessories and tools, inspired by his passion for design, which originates from a daily dialogue with his guests. Tables, chairs, plates, glasses and flatware at D’O are user-friendly, simple and elegant.
