Daniel Charny

Daniel Charny is an independent curator and educator. Working across cultural, education and commercial environments, Charny’s work is recognised for a distinctive combination of strategic and creative thinking. He curates, consults, lectures, teaches and participates in conferences and design award juries internationally. From 2002 — 2010 Charny was the founding curator of The Aram Gallery for experimental and new design. In 2003 he led the Masterplan for the Design Museum Holon. In recent years in the course of a long standing relationship with the Design Museum, London he has curated two major shows and guided the strategic development of the collection. In 2011 he led the team producing plans for a new interpretation strategy and permanent exhibition for their move to a new building. His latest exhibition for the Victoria and Albert Museum “Power of Making” was a critical and popular success, and is now known to be the most visited free exhibition ever staged at the V&A. Charny has been involved in design education for the past twenty years and has taught and lectured in the UK and internationally. Highlights include working closely for ten years with Professor Ron Arad developing the programme for the Design Products MA (combining furniture and product design) at the Royal College of Art, London and acting as External Examiner at Goldsmiths BA design.
